The weekend before last I had a really fun cap & gown photo session with my friend, Sarah. She is graduating in December and will be a nurse! Sarah was our student worker in my former department in the university and was a huge help to me in my very stressful position. Besides being super sweet and always having a smile on her face, she is wicked smart! I hate that I don’t get to work with her now but she is going out into “the real world” soon and I know she will be amazing. As a photography subject, she was a ton of fun! She wanted to do a lot of poses and my favorite thing – blowing glitter or confetti around! She also decided to get into the fountain, one of the prime picture taking spots and a place that students always remember with fondness on campus.
So let’s get to the pics! I created a couple of new Lightroom presets while editing these, which I’ve made available on the kristenione FREE Lightroom presets page! I’ve noted which ones are used below.
You can’t graduate without taking a picture beside this sign, the entrance to campus.
This next one isn’t using one of my presets but a gorgeous one that I use all the time from One Willow’s Timeless Collection. It’s called Radiant.
The below is edited with my free preset “kristenione Sunny Cupola”.
Sarah needs no help posing…she is very natural!
This next one is also using “kristenione Sunny Cupola”. This is my favorite picture of the session. The sun was just perfect, and it looks like she’s walking into her future as a college grad!
Brilliant idea of Sarah’s to bring decorated “RN” letters as props!
These next two photos are edited using the preset “kristenione Glitter in the Dark”. There was a storm coming and it was pretty dark by this time. Sarah’s friend Katie had to shine her flashlight phone on the confetti to make it stand out a little more! But I think they turned out really pretty and I like that they aren’t overly bright and generic looking!
Here comes nurse Sarah!
Sarah was a Disney Intern so she had a couple of adorable caps she wanted in her pics! (“kristenione Sunny Cupola”)
And the final shot of the evening…in the fountain!
Congrats Sarah and thanks for allowing me to take your Cap & Gown photos!
