The other morning, I was wanting to make the perfect banana microwave oatmeal that I’ve been enjoying lately, but was out of bananas. I think we eat more bananas than any family! So instead, I threw together a bowl of oatmeal that turned out really yummy. Microwave Cinnamon Apple & Walnut Oatmeal!
This is too easy to necessitate a formal recipe, but I still wanted to share because it was warm and filling and perfect. I used rolled oats and followed the microwave directions, except I used milk instead of water. I think oatmeal is a little plain on its own and the milk makes it creamier. When there were about 30 seconds left, I stopped the microwave and added in diced apples. 30 seconds was enough to make them just warm and a little soft. Then, I topped it with cinnamon, chopped walnuts, and chia seeds. Oatmeal is great because you can make it with so many different flavors by just mixing up your toppings. And I stay full throughout the morning when I eat it for breakfast.
Do you like oatmeal? Got any inventive ways to prepare it to make it more interesting?
