Hey ya’ll! It’s been a while! We’ve been super busy lately and I haven’t been able to keep up with blogging like I want! But I’m checking in today with this month’s Put This in Some Bacon Grease and Fry It! This time we’re frying up some potatoes and onions!
My dad makes potatoes like this and when I started cooking it the other night all the smells brought back feelings of home. This is a great winter dish because the potatoes and so filling and rich with the grease and butter. Heck yeah!
5 Medium Potatoes (I used Yukon gold)
1 Medium Onion
2-3 Tbsp Bacon Grease
1 Tbsp Butter
Salt and Pepper
No playing around this time. You need a good amount of bacon grease. Heat it up in a skillet. Slice your potatoes and onion. Add to skillet. Add salt and pepper generously. You need to let this cook for a good long while, about an hour or so, until the potatoes are soft and translucent. When the bacon grease starts to thin out and you need more moisture, add in your butter. This should allow you to get the potatoes cooked all the way through. Enjoy!
